Gaspard Oliviers

Research Student

Gaspard Oliviers graduated from Imperial College London in 2022, with an MEng in Biomedical Engineering, specialised in computational bioengineering. He completed his final year project at the Institute of Neuroinformatics at ETH Zurich, where he investigated predictive coding networks as a model of unsupervised learning in the cortex.

Gaspard joined the MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit for his D.Phil. in Clinical Neuroscience under the supervision of Prof. Rafal Bogacz. His research is focused on optimizing closed-loop deep brain stimulation for treating the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Specifically, he is using tools from machine learning to identify the stimulation strategies that optimally mitigate the symptoms of Parkinson’s, while minimizing the side effects of deep brain stimulation and the power usage.
