Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) are at the heart of our research and work culture at the MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit.

We strive to ensure Equality by promoting fairness in access, opportunities, and treatment. We celebrate Diversity by valuing different backgrounds and perspectives. We foster Inclusion by creating a space where everyone at the Unit belongs, is heard, and has agency—regardless of age, race, sex, religion or belief, disability, gender identity, gender reassignment, neurodiversity, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status.

The MRC BNDU has an active EDI Committee that aims to support our students and staff by developing and actioning EDI strategy to adopt best practices and create a thriving research environment for all. The Committee includes Unit members who identify with different axes of diversity and will act as ambassadors for these axes. To email the Unit’s EDI Committee please contact: edi@bndu.ox.ac.uk

The University as a whole has been granted an Athena SWAN Silver Award, as has the MRC BNDU's host department, the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences. The Athena SWAN Awards at the Univertsity of Oxford recognise success in developing good employment practices for women in higher education, but in so doing, also offer a valuable framework for cultural changes that create a better working environment for both women and men. The University of Oxford is also part of the Stonewall Diversity Champion Programme.

Well-being Room

The Well-being Room is a dedicated onsite quiet space, set aside from the usual working environment, and is designed to support activities such as prayer, meditation, breastfeeding or expressing milk. It was established in partnership with the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences and the Department of Pharmacology.
