Ioana originally graduated with a medical degree from the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in Bucharest, Romania. She then completed a M.Sc. in Neuroscience at the University of Oxford, during which she joined the Stagg Group for one of her lab rotations, working on a pharmaco-TMS project designed to reveal how Baclofen, a GABA-B receptor agonist, influences motor learning.
In October 2018, Ioana started her D.Phil. in the Stagg Group, where she is using behavioural tasks and neuroimaging to investigate how pharmacological modulation of GABA-mediated inhibition can influence motor learning and brain chemistry in healthy volunteers and stroke survivors.
