Dr John Eraifej
John is a neurosurgery resident and DPhil candidate supervised by Professor Alex Green, Professor Robin Cleveland and Professor Huiling Tan. Prior to starting his DPhil, John completed a NIHR funded Academic Clinical Fellowship and is currently supported by the Medical Research Council as a Clinical Research Training Fellow. John holds a BSc in Biomedical Engineering, a PGDip in Health Research and Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons.
John’s research utilises insights from invasive deep brain stimulation (DBS) to design non-invasive transcranial ultrasound stimulation (TUS) strategies. Reciprocally, John aims to use the novel insights from TUS to and improve DBS therapy. He uses neuroimaging and electrophysiology techniques to define targets and real-time effects of TUS. John aims to translate his findings into a clinical platform technology that can then be applied to Parkinson's disease and chronic pain along with a broad range of brain disorders.
