Mufeng Tang

Research Student

Mufeng Tang graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Arts and Sciences from University College London in 2019, with a major in mathematics and computer science. He then completed his master’s degree in Statistics at the University of Chicago in 2021, where he participated in multiple research projects at the intersection of machine learning and computational neuroscience, on biologically plausible deep learning and spiking neural networks.

Mufeng joined the Bogacz Group as a D.Phil. student in October 2021, and is currently investigating the role of predictive coding in modelling the hippocampus in associative memory tasks by taking into account the known anatomy of the hippocampus. His long-term research goal is to use predictive coding as a general computational model describing the diverse functions of the cortex, thus bridging the understanding of biological and artificial intelligence.
