Postdoctoral Neuroscientist (Oswal Group)

Closing Date

The MRC BNDU is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Neuroscientist to work as part of a team of scientists and clinicians investigating motor function and motivation in healthy people and patients with neurological conditions.

The post holder will leverage complementary methods that include structural and functional brain imaging (MRI, MEG), electrophysiology (EEG and LFP recordings), computational modelling, Machine Learning approaches and behavioural analysis. In addition to developing research protocols, the appointee will play a key role in collecting, analysing, and reporting on high dimensional and multimodal datasets collected from healthy participants and patients.

The post holder will be part of the Oswal Group based at the hospital site of the MRC BNDU, and will have ample opportunity to collaborate with researchers at the Unit and in the wider Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences. The proposed research will take full advantage of the intellectual environment, capital equipment, technical expertise and excellent infrastructure in place at the MRC BNDU.

The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. or M.D. (theses to be submitted or already awarded) in a relevant area of research and have experience in computer programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python or R) for analysis of high dimensional or multimodal datasets. They will also have some prior knowledge or understanding of data collection and analysis techniques pertaining to neuroimaging, human neurophysiology, or cognitive neuroscience. Experience of conducting neuroimaging and/or electrophysiology, of working with open-source Machine Learning platforms, and of engaging in best practice supporting Open Science is desirable.

This is a full-time fixed-term post of 36 months, with an initial probationary period, to start on 1st December 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. This post is a University Grade 7 (07S) position with a starting salary of between £34,308 and £42,155 per annum.
