Karen graduated with a M.Eng. in Biomedical Engineering from Imperial College London. During her masters thesis, she investigated the neural mechanisms of natural speech comprehension. In this context, she used machine learning methods to analyse electroencephalogram data during an auditory task. In 2019. Karen joined the Unit as an iCASE D.Phil. student in partnership with Magstim.
Karen’s D.Phil. research is focused on investigating closed-loop Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation approaches, working under the supervision of Prof. Tim Denison and Dr Jacinta O’Shea. Her work involves searching for optimal stimulation parameters for the treatment of epilepsy.
