Applications are invited to join a thriving research team at the MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit at the University of Oxford (MRC BNDU). We are seeking a Research Technician to provide specialist technical support and to conduct original collaborative research as part of a multidisciplinary scientific programme designed to elucidate the function and dysfunction of neuronal circuits in the rodent brain.

In addition to having a B.Sc. or equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific discipline, candidates should have a track record in laboratory technician work and/or research experience in the field of neuroscience. Candidates are also expected to be team players, able to work as part of a group and independently, and to have excellent communication skills. A well-developed ability to manage time and multitask is also essential.

The post holder will work in the Group led by Dr Andrew Sharott, and will be based on the main site of the MRC BNDU at the Department of Pharmacology. The post holder will be required to contribute to research by assisting with experiments in rodents, as well as by assisting in the daily organisation and running of the host laboratory.

This is a full-time, fixed-term post with an end date of 31st March 2020 in the first instance, externally funded by the Medical Research Council, to start as soon as possible. This post is a University Grade 6 (06S) position with a starting salary of between £28,660 and £34,189 per annum (commensurate with experience). The post holder will be contractually required to undertake business critical work outside of core working days for the equivalent of 2 days per month. Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment with the University will be subject to a satisfactory security screening.
