Dr. Mohamady El-Gaby

Associate Unit Member

Mohamady completed his Ph.D. in the laboratory of Professor Ole Paulsen at the University of Cambridge, where he developed optogenetic approaches to manipulate synapses in behaving animals and then used the approaches to uncover a lateralisation in synaptic plasticity and memory processing in mice. He then worked in Dr David Dupret’s Group here in the Unit as a postdoctoral researcher from April 2016 to April 2020, during which time he uncovered a novel neural code for dynamic memories. Mohamady is now embarking on a project investigating the neural mechanisms of abstraction in Professor Tim Behrens's Group at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, in collaboration with Professor Mark Walton and Dr Thomas Akam.
