Postdoctoral Neuroscientist in Behavioural Neurophysiology

Postdoctoral Neuroscientist in Behavioural Neurophysiology

Closing Date:
Wednesday, March 28, 2018

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Neuroscientist to develop, execute and analyse electrophysiological and behavioural experiments in rodents as part of a scientific programme designed to investigate neuronal dynamics of multi-brain circuit assemblies during the expression of memory-guided appetitive behaviour.

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in neuroscience and demonstrate clear expertise and a promising track record in the field of in vivo network physiology, neuronal assemblies and memory processes. Candidates should have advanced technical expertise in programming (C, Python, R or Matlab) and multivariate data analysis.

The post holder will be part of the Dupret Group based on the main site of the MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit at the Department of Pharmacology. The Group uses a multidisciplinary approach to elucidate how temporal coordination of cortical and subcortical activity relates to the encoding, consolidation and recall of memories as well as the expression of memory-guided behaviour. The Group combines electrophysiological techniques with optogenetic techniques and closed-loop systems to infer causality, where possible.

This is a full-time, fixed-term post with end date of 31st March 2020 in the first instance (possible extension from 1st April 2020 subject to renewal of funding from the Medical Research Council), to start as soon as possible from April 2018. This post is a University Grade 7 (07S) position with a starting salary of between £31,604 and £38,883 per annum. Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment with the University will be subject to a satisfactory security screening.

Informal enquiries can be addressed to Dr David Dupret.

Applications must be made via the University of Oxford’s online recruitment system, using Vacancy ID 133147

The closing date for applications for this post is 12 midday UK time on Wednesday 28th March 2018.

Interviews will be held week commencing 9th April 2018.
