James graduated with an M.Phys. at the University of Oxford in 2010. After completing the Graduate-Entry-Medicine Programme at Oxford in 2015, he started on the Systems Biology D.Phil. Programme at the University of Oxford.
James's current research focuses on predictive coding models of the cerebral cortex. His recent work has been on the link between the back-propagation algorithm in artificial neural networks and supervised predictive coding models. His future work is on extending the theory of predictive coding, as well as verifying the models on real world datasets.
