Dr. Abbey Holt

Postdoctoral Scientist

Abbey obtained her undergraduate B.A. in mathematics, chemistry, and biology from St. Olaf College in Minnesota, USA. She continued her studies at the University of Minnesota, working in Dr. Theoden Netoff’s group and graduating with her Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 2016. Abbey’s doctoral thesis research was focused on developing methods to systematically tune stimulation parameters to suppress unwanted oscillatory activity in the brain in Parkinson’s disease, and also on testing these approaches in computational models of the basal ganglia as well as in single cells in vitro. Abbey joined the Sharott Group in 2016 to work on closed-loop approaches to deep brain stimulation.
